Dept. of Pharmaceutics

Pharmaceutics is one of the disciplines in the pharmacy which deals with formulation of a pure drug substance into dosage forms. The subject areas of pharmaceutics include Pharmaceutical Technology, Physical Pharmaceutics, Pharmacokinetics & Biopharmaceutics, Industrial Pharmacy and Drug Delivery Systems for professional doctoral degree, graduate and undergraduate students.

The Department of Pharmaceutics has a rich tradition of innovation and a commitment to advancing health through new knowledge. Faculty members make significant contributions to enhancing understanding of drug action and delivery.

During this graduate program, Students will have an opportunity to work alongside professional experts in modern laboratories to gain a firm understanding of the materials and technologies associated with pharmaceutical product development, manufacture, and evaluation. You’ll graduate ready to participate in research to formulate new medications or continue your education with a PhD in Pharmaceutics

Pharmaceutics is the study of the quantitative aspects of drug delivery, and involves the design, development, and evaluation of drugs in combination with an appropriate dosage form. It is the study of relationships between drug formulation, delivery, disposition and clinical response a pharmaceutical scientist characterizes physical properties of drugs, develops innovative delivery systems for drugs, and quantitatively evaluates drug absorption, distribution, metabolism, excretion, and pharmacological activity in the living organism. The Department of Pharmaceutics is a place where an unwavering commitment to excellence in research, instruction and service is demonstrated through the extraordinary productivity and success of our faculty, staff and students.

Our department concentrates on four areas of pharmaceutics:-
1.Drug delivery: the development of the most appropriate form or method for administering a pharmaceutical compound
2. Nanotechnology and Nanomedicine, the design of medical interventions at the scale of molecules and atoms
3. Biopharmaceutics, the study of absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion of drugs and toxins in the body
4. Microbiology and Biotechnology

Major Areas of Research:
1.Nanoparticulate Drug Delivery System
2.Lipid Drug Delivery System
3.Controlled Drug Delivery System
4.Solubilization Technology
5.Mucoadhesive Drug Delivery System
6.Gastro Retentive Drug Delivery System
7.Extruder and Palletization Technology
8.Microparticulate Drug Delivery System
9.Oral Dispersible Formulation Technology
10.Transdermal Drug Delivery System.

Our department offers modern and innovative Diploma and undergraduate pharmacy education.   We prepare students to have the academic knowledge, practical experience and professional values of a pharmacist.

The department faculty members model the values, ethics, and attitudes of the pharmacy profession for their students and are committed to helping each student meet his or her career objectives in the pharmaceutical sciences. The fresh knowledge our faculty brings to the classroom comes from their own research labs and their connections to the world’s leading pharmaceutical scientists.
